We are looking for new solutions to improve knowledge, management, and compliance with treatments for chronic diseases

At Cinfa, and through our Open Innovation Platform, CinfaNext, we are once again joining the ANCES Open Innovation initiative of the Spanish National Association of European Business and Innovation Centres (ANCES), which aims to develop a market traction programme for innovative companies.

This year, our challenge was aimed at improving the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases, through new solutions that enhance knowledge, management, and compliance with their treatments.

This is how the 2024 edition unfolded

At the final event, held on 16 May at the La Nave building in Madrid, representatives of the finalist startups of this 7th edition presented their proposals to an audience that included the Director General of the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation, José Moisés Martín Carretero, and the Councillor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council, Ángel Niño.

For our part, with the challenge proposed by Cinfa, we were seeking everything from digital solutions to new, more efficient treatments, systems to improve compliance, and devices and technologies that enable better monitoring of chronic patients. All of this is aimed at increasing the well-being of these patients and making it easier for healthcare professionals to monitor and manage their conditions. In this way, we aim to empower both patients and healthcare professionals to improve the quality of life for those with chronic diseases.

This year, the winning startup of our challenge was Freedom & Flow, from Ciudad Real. This corporate wellness company offers its technological solution, Healthy Box, to other companies. Healthy Box is a tool capable of gathering precise information to understand employees’ needs and prevent illnesses and problems within the team before they occur. They received the award from Marta Pedrosa Olite, Innovation Analyst at Cinfa.

In addition to the winning startup, we would also like to congratulate the other two finalists of our challenge: Neil, a technological solution for healthcare professionals that helps improve the clinical assessment of patients with mobility problems; and Ephion Health, which focuses on establishing digital biomarkers to ensure accurate monitoring of conditions and evaluation of therapy.

Through initiatives like ANCES Open Innovation, we continue to seek new projects and partnerships in the healthcare sector, with a particular focus on one of our six innovation areas: chronic diseases. Increased longevity, coupled with more effective medical and pharmacological treatments, means that more and more people are living with chronic diseases for years. Addressing each case individually, supporting patients, and enhancing their quality of life is one of our primary goals.
