Cinfa promotes the national and regional entrepreneurship ecosystem at CEIN Startup Day

Nearly 300 people took part in the CEIN Startup Day – an International Congress on High Impact Entrepreneurship organised by the Centro Europeo de Empresas e Innovación de Navarra (CEIN)  in Pamplona on 20 December.

This forum brought together 120 representatives from startups, investment companies and large corporations to strengthen the national and regional entrepreneurship ecosystem. The event also analysed the best financing policies to facilitate and promote the creation of these types of companies, which are crucial for Navarre’s economic development.

Mikel Irujo, Regional Minister for Economic and Business Development and President of CEIN, officially opened the event and emphasised the fundamental role of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Navarre.

During the congress, 33 startups from the Health, Digitech, Agro, and Greentech sectors presented their proposals to expert investors and companies, and individual meetings and interviews were held between them.

Specialists presented various insights into the current European investment ecosystem, the involvement of large corporations in startup scaling, and factors to consider when making investment decisions.

At Cinfa, we take great pride in our active participation in the CEIN Startup Day, where we contributed to a panel discussion where corporations discussed their role in scaling startups. Our Director of Innovation and Business Development, Julio Sánchez Mariñas, emphasised the strategic role of this type of collaboration for companies, as these synergies are of great value to both sides. Blanca Jauregui Arbizu, Director of Research and Development at Viscofan, Amaia Zabaleta Sainz de Ugarte, Technology Business Development Manager at Repsol  and Lander Iraragorri, Corporate Venturing Manager at Talgo, also took part in the panel discussion.

Prize-giving ceremony

At the congress, the CEIN Startup Day included a ceremony to acknowledge various startups and projects involved in CEIN programmes.

Patricia Fanlo, the Regional Minister for University, Innovation, and Digital Transformation, awarded the HEALTH Accelerator Award for the Best Project of the Year 2023, emphasising the remarkable dedication to innovation and entrepreneurship demonstrated by the presented projects. Germán Alejandro Sánchez Martín was honoured for his automatic device to prevent choking, while Esther Martínez Arce received an award for her digital fitness platform designed to help breast cancer survivors.

In addition, other startups participating in the Impulso Emprendedor programme, which is guided and supported by Cinfa and other organisations, were also honoured with prizes. The winners were the startup Zaindari, whose innovative tool enables monitoring, education, and control of internet usage on any device without the need to install any software, VORS Control, which offers advanced solutions for control engineering solutions, and QR4Events, which specialises in the digitalisation of sales and billing services at major events.

Finally, the prize for the company installed in the CEIN Innovation Incubators went to 3P Biopharmaceuticals, which specialises in the development and production of biological and cell therapy products for clinical trials and commercial phases, and which boasts an impressive track record.
